While vacationing in Saugatuck this July, I was so happy to place an order of Sally Cards at GoodGoods, which is in the heart of the sweetest artsiest resort town of Saugatuck, Michigan! GoodGoods is housed in what was once a Victorian Boarding House and is now completely restored and it has the coolest wrap around glass enclosed porch overlooking the harbor. It is on this sweet little porch that you can find Sally cards spinning 'round and 'round. If you're in Saugatuck, definitely check out GoodGoods (you'll love it) and while your at it buy a "Sally" card or two...

A Note About My Tree...
Here's a note back from Melanie about my tree! Yeah!
Hi Judy,
Thank you so much for participating in our initiative and making your blog carbon neutral! Your tree will be planted this month by the Arbor Day Foundation. The scheduled start plant date was Monday, April 19 and the trees will be planted by a contracted crew. The roads are being plowed, all contracts solidified, and twelve shipments of 150,000 seedling each are being assembled. We thank you for the support!
There are still some trees looking for a sponsor. So if you know some people who have a blog or website, let them know and we'll make their blogs carbon neutral too!
Best,
Melanie

My Blog is Carbon Neutral
One Tree for One Blog..... That's what the team at kauf-Da tells us and thanks to them my blog is carbon neutral! Here's the skinny....Nobody knows for sure how much carbon dioxide a particular tree can absorb as there are many different calculations for the saving potential of a tree, but according to a study by a Harvard University physicist's report, an average website causes about 8lbs of carbon dioxide emissions a year (mainly caused by the mainframes blogs are posted on plus servers and coolers) and one tree can absorb 11lbs of carbon dioxide per year.
The crew at kauf-Da is making it easy for everyone to have a carbon neutral blog by their impressive (and free) initiative called "Make It Green" where they will plant one tree for one blog. How cool is that? The trees will be planted in the Plumas National Forest in Northern California by the Arbor Day Foundation. For more information about where the trees are planted, see the NEWS section of their site. Why not sign up and make your blog carbon neutral by clicking here?

8 ounces = 3 pounds
Now I ask you, why is it that I can eat
a measley 8 ounces of chocolate and
gain 5 pounds???? Is that fair?

SALLY'S DEBUT
In October '09 I presented my Down Sally's Alley Line of Greeting Cards to Dave, the General Manager at Barnes & Noble Bookstore University of Chicago. His reaction to Sally's cards was positive and encouraging, however, it probably comes as no surprise that B&N doesn't ordinarly work with small upstart publishers like DSA, but after Dave noodled around some ideas and scenarios, he agreed to show a sampling of Sally Cards in early 2010. Wasn't that nice? True to his word in March 2010 "Sally" made her Debut at B&N, Uof C Bookstore. I was excited that Sally was placed in "prime" real estate at counter level where she keeps good company with Godiva Chocolate and Hello Kitty. Stop in and Check Us Out at Barnes & Noble/ 58th & Ellis /University of Chicago Campus!

Eleanor Riley-No Time To Shop
Eleanor procrastinated buying a card for Gretta's birthday because she never finds anything that suits her when she shops store to store. At 11: 58 pm, she slunk down in her bed, and willed herself to stay awake a little longer. She dragged her laptop out from under her bed, and clicked the blue button - peck, peck, peck she typed.... http://www.downsallysalley.com/. Hey, what a great site.. Look at this little slide show...Not a minute later she added the funniest card from Sally's Birthday Line to her cart - and decided to click around a llittle. A little click here and a little click there, click here, click there, click click everywhere..... Oh my goodness before she knew it - Eleanor added 7 additional cards to her cart - because... well... she just had to have them!! They spoke to her and she listened. And, the best part was she'll never have to go traipsing around the shops looking at zillions of lack-luster cards for her friends -- ever --again. At 12:11 am Eleanor clicked X and shut it all down for the night. She smiled as she mentally checked "Buy BD Card For Gretta" off her Million Things To Do List .. Not bad for 13 minutes online. Thanks Sally.

After A Long Day
"A Girl Needs A Bit of Socialability!"
Ain't it the truth? Life is tough out there.
Then she asked herself... "How much time
am I making for fun and frivolous activities?"
The answer came much too
The answer came much too
quickly.. "Not enough." She decided to
then and there to make more room for
all things that makes her feel good. How about you?
